Welcome to the Good Hope Seminary High School website. Founded in 1873 by Reverend Andrew Murray, and still on its original premises, we are a school that embraces our motto of Constantia et Virtute, which means With Courage and Perseverance.
The anchor was adopted in the school badge because the school was one of the first in South Africa, and the anchor formed part of the Coat-of-Arms of the Cape of Good Hope. In addition, the anchor is a symbol of the connection and sense of belonging that this school offers its young ladies: past and present.
The young ladies who attend this school are given the opportunity to develop their full potential in an environment that is fully inclusive. The academic programme along with the extra-curricular programme, helps build emotional intelligence, good communication skills and reinforces an awareness of the needs of others while developing skills that will be demanded in the societies and economies of the future.
The staff are well-qualified and have the best interests of the girls at heart, thereby enabling the girls to achieve excellent matric results.
You are most welcome to visit our school in person.
This school is committed to enabling each individual to reach her full potential in a caring,
Non threatening, non-discriminatory environment;
To develop in each child a positive set of values;
To promote tolerance and respect for others and
To encourage self-discipline and independent thought.
